Hello. Anyone having problems with OS 5 upgrade? iCloud I think is my problem. I got duplicated calendar entries first, which can be turned off by selecting just iCloud or just computer, but it is a bit counter intuitive.
Then trying to get my podcasts to be not greyed out has caused some very strange behaviour. Backups are interrupted, restorations must be done, itunes treats my phone as a new device, allsorts. Now trying restore from a backup from a couple of days ago…
okay. back to filling in term and conditions, Apple ID etc.

not using iCloud…
podcasts still greyed out! grrr
Ah. Interrupted message again. cancelled back up. now synch?
‘Other’ is now taking up 4.5 GB of space. This is not seamless
still backing up
sudden change to ‘other 0.64GB’ which is good. but synch found 52 conflicts that were not conflicts- same images in address book and still podcasts are greyed out.
most music too…
trying unticking synch music, synching phone, then resynching music
podcasts gradually repopulating. I want to go to the studio now, this is boring. It seems to be working, hope this helps someone.
I thinkthere is an issue with the retore because non of the apps i personally put on my phone work. If i delete them and download them again they work but that is a pain. And when i did download it, it went to the second page and i can’t get it back on the first page. I also can no longer use my downloaded ringtones for my alarm. they work on phone calls only. I’m really disappointed with Apple. I thought they were better than this but it’s almost like Microsoft wrote this OS.
I’m having issues with spotlight searches; not reliable. Also, freezes when trying to click through to contacts from spotlight search result! How pathetic
pathetic’s a bit strong. But frustrating, yes. It seems like Apple don’t search too hard for bugs before releasing stuff and wait for it to come out in the wash.
More positive things- Synch happens in the background, which is nice. Don’t really understand how to use iCloud. Like the old Macdisk(?) thing I never wanted to pay the extra £s so I missed out on the functionality. I don’t like it when Apple tie their hardwear to subscription services or drop services for older products. Both are not the actions of Good Guys.
